MUMBAI: Unidentified burglars broke into a cylinder store barely a kilometre from the Opera House blast site on Saturday and made away with electronic gadgets worth Rs 1.5 lakh.
Pratap Doshi, the proprietor of Premier Gas Service at Nana Chowk, discovered the burglary when he opened the store on Saturday morning. Eight monitors and LCDs were among the items stolen.

Doshi said, "It's not possible for two or three persons to carry all the stolen stuff. The thieves probably came with a vehicle." Doshi reported the incident at Gamdevi police station.
A police officer said that they too suspected that the thieves had come in a vehicle. The officer said, "It was raining that night and the accused took advantage of that to commit the crime." He added that rain affects their patrolling and hence during the monsoon, more housebreaking incidents take place. The police said there were no CCTV cameras near the store.
After the triple blasts, officials claimed that they had increased vigilance across the city and the entire force was on high alert. "The theft at the store has exposed the police's claim. The incident shows that the police needs to be more alert and vigilant," said a businessman.
Mumbai: Three days after the blasts, and barely a km distance from the Opera House blast site, thieves broke into a cylinder store at night and escaped with the electronic gadgets worth Ra 1.5 lakh on early Saturday.

Pratap Doshi of Premier Gas Service at Nana Chowk had closed his store at Friday night and he found about the burglary next day when he opened the store. The thieves stolen 8 monitors, LSD from the store along with the other stuff and Doshi reported the incident at Gamdevi police station.
Doshi said, "Along with the computer monitors various other things also stolen from the store. Its not possible for two or three persons to carry all the stolen stuff and probably the thieves came with the vehicle."
The police officer said that they suspected that they too suspect that the accused came in the vehicle to commit the crime. The officer said, "We are trying to for the lead. It was raining at night and the accused took its advantages to commit the crime."
The police officer stated that the rain affects their patrolling in the area and during the monsoon more housebreaking incident takes place. The police said that they there were no CCTV cameras around the burgled cylinder store and they are enquiring with the miscreants in the vicinity for the clue.
After the blast senior officers claimed that they had increased the vigilance across the city and entire police force was on high alert. "The theft incident in the store exposed the police claim. The incident showed that the police need to more vigilance and alert on the street" said a businessman.
